Citrus uses for beauty
- For a zesty body scrub, combine 1 ½ cups of sugar with 1/2 cup of almond or grapeseed oil, the zest of one lemon or orange, and 2 teaspoons of fresh, chopped rosemary. You can store it at room temperature in an airtight container for up to six months.
- Make heavenly citrus bath salts by combining the zest of 2 lemons or grapefruit with 2 tablespoons of Epsom salts and ½ tablespoon of fine sea salt. Sprinkle into your bath for a revitalising soak.
- For a soothing foot soak, fill a shallow bowl with warm, rosemary and lemon-infused water, add 1/2 cup of Epsom salt, and relax.
- A honey- and orange-based face mask is a quick fix to give skin a healthy glow. Simply combine three tablespoons of orange juice with a quarter-cup of honey. Pat the mixture lightly over your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then rinse with lukewarm water and moisturise.
- As a substitute for mints and gum, chew orange or lemon peels to make your breath smell fresh.
- For natural looking highlights, add 1/4 cup lemon juice to 3/4 cup water, rinse your hair with the mixture, and sit in the sun until your hair dries. To maximize the effect, repeat once a day for up to a week.
